Pinky Rules

The most important thing to remember about tea party etiquette is the “pinky rule.” One must keep one’s pinky finger straight while holding one’s tea cup or polite society will throw one’s sorry ass straight down a rabbit hole. Tea party etiquette is different from strip club ettiquette, which also has a “pinky rule.” In a strip club, sticking out your pinky means something entirely different.

We managed to find several uses for the pinky:

The pinky promise or pinky swear.
In Japan, holding up a pinky while speaking of two people means they are in a relationship.
In China, if one holds up a little finger at another, it is usually considered vulgar.
In Turkey, it's tradition to link pinky fingers when two people are making a bet.
The Iron Ring is a symbolic ring worn by some Canadian engineers and is always worn on the little finger of the dominant hand.
The Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority holds their pinky finger in the air as a greeting to their fellow sisters.
Most importantly, how could the British ever drink their tea without a pinky?
